In January, a section of the Heathrow fire main burst on the busy A30 road, adjacent to our Eastern Balancing Reservoir construction site.
In order for repairs to begin, RK Air had to respond fast to install and commission the Northern Main at the Surge Vessel such that the fire main supply could be redirected through it. This involved laying approximately 15 metres of 600Dn push-fit pipe and completing the tie-ins at both ends. All in next-to-no-time.
But while speed was imperative, quality could not be compromised. The RK Air team worked late into the evenings and over the weekend to complete these works and deliver a successful outcome to isolate the leaking main and allow repairs to be planned at the A30.
