This project includes the installation of pipework within a temporary bypass constructed from concrete culverts above ground, and then connecting it to existing pipework below ground. RK Air’s task encompasses all associated civil works, the excavations and temporary works systems before reinstatement takes place.
A temporary surge vessel is to be installed while the old one is being decommissioned and an upgraded model installed. RK Air also provided concrete slabs on which to house the temporary surge vessel, and the new permanent surge vessel.
In addition to this, RK Air is replacing both suction and delivery valves within the pumping station electric and diesel rooms, a total of 24no valves.
The Eastern Balancing Reservoir provides surge protection to the airport, and as such it is critical that it remains operational at all times while the project is underway.
